Matrimonial Law - Suffolk County Issues State's First Trial Decision Interpreting New No-Fault Law

Believes to be the state’s first contested divorce... Applying the state’s year-old no-fault divorce law, Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice James Quinn sided with the wife after determining at a trial that their marriage was done.... they “have not had marital relations in excess of five years, and although they live in the same house, they sleep in separate bedrooms, and never have meals together... spend no holidays together and share no common friends,” and only the mom socializes with their kids. And even though she’s in poor health, her hubby "has not... asked about her health for the past ten years,” the judge wrote.
